General Rules
{1} Extremely important for newbies: When you create an account, you must post at least once on one of the boards the same day you create it, otherwise your account will be deleted.
{2} You must post at least once a month. Otherwise, your account will be deleted. If you leave an excuse on the Bye-Bye! board, explaining why you won't be here for a particular period of time, your account won't be deleted. This does not count if you say, for example, that you're going to be gone for two weeks and you don't post for a month. Then your account will be deleted, because you didn't post another excuse stating that you will be inactive for a longer period of time. If you wish to keep your account, be sure to leave a note on the Bye-bye board about your absence. Also, you must POST on the site once a month, not just come online, because that doesn't count.[/b]
{3} One character per account is allowed. If you want to join with a second character, you must make a new account.
{4} Do not be rude to anyone on the site. If you are, you will get posts deleted or edited, suspension, or worse. NOTE: This does NOT include in role playing. Your characters are completely different than you are.
{5} Age, gender, religious, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and racial discrimination is forbidden on this site.
{6} Do not cyber with anyone on this site, in any way.
{7} Your username can be anything you wish (as long as it is appropriate and not offensive), but your display name must be the full name of your character.
{8} Please do not post an announcement on the Calendar when it's your (or someone else's) birthday. It will already be on the calendar. All entries related to birthdays (except for JHS's own) will be deleted and you will get a warning. Also, please do not post personal things like 'Brother's getting married' or 'Parents' 25th aniversary' or things like that, that just aren't that important to all the members on JHS. Along with that go random holidays, like 'National Cheese Day' and 'Play With Your Pet Day'. Remember that all holidays go up in the info center, so it gets a bit annoying to see those every time you view the home page.
{9} Do not ever delete role plays, or any thread for that matter. If you want one removed, please contact one of the Admins.
Role Playing Rules
{1} No godmoding at all. You may, for instance, pick up a child without having to ask for permission. Just don't actually play someone else's character or 'make' them do something. Example: John dropped Carly and she got hurt, so she started crying. In this situation, Carly would be someone else's character, and the person that was playing John would be godmoding.
{2} No complete despies; try to be reasonable. You may have some disabilities and injuries, but don't over-do it.
{3} You can have gay characters in regular role plays, but no slash role plays are allowed.
{4} You must use some form of 'OOC' (Out Of Character) in the role play boards if you're not role playing. If you're posting in the Out Of Character boards, there's no need to use OOC.
{5} No drugs, drug users, drug dealers and dealing, etc. However, characters smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol is allowed.
{6} Some romance is allowed. Try to keep it high school appropriate. ^^ If you have any questions about what is appropriate and what is not, please PM one of the Admins. You will not get in trouble for asking me if something is appropriate, but you might if you just go ahead and post it.
{7} When you decide that you don't want to be in a role play anymore, please state that you are leaving, rather than leaving people guessing whether or not you're there anymore.
{8} If you have an idea of an RP to make, go ahead and make it (you don't need permission). If you are not sure which topic it goes in, are not sure it will be allowed on JHS, or if you want to know if others like your idea, post it on the Role Play Topic Ideas board.
Literacy and Posting Rules
{1} You must use punctuation and capitalization, even when you're not role playing. Come on, we've all been to school.
{2} Please don't use too much chatspeak. I'll allow some, but if I feel that you're using too much of it, I'll tell you so.
{3} Please don't spam. Just posting random things, in both OOC and role play boards, is against the rules. This also means not posting a lot of posts in a row (no more than two in a row, please). If you find something you want to add to your previous post, please edit. For those of you who don't know how to do this: There are a few buttons on the top right corner of every one of your posts. One of them is 'modify,' and if you click on that you can fix your post or add whatever you need to. Another is 'delete,' if you double post on accident or simply don't want that post to be there.
{4} Cursing is allowed on JHS, but PLEASE do not over-do it. If I think you're over-doing it, I'll have a chat with you over PM and you might get a warning. Just keep it to a minimum - don't curse in every post. And I'd highly appreciate it if you hardly ever use it in OOC posts, and keep it to the RPs. Some things are not allowed, but the usual curse words are. If you type in a word and it comes out as -beep- in your post, that means it's not allowed.
{5} Do not post images or links to pornographic/nude material. This includes barely-dressed people/cartoons. This also goes for avatars. Also, make sure the image/avatar isn't offensive to anyone in particular. A lot of gore is not allowed. If you aren't sure if an image/avatar/link is allowed, please PM one of the Admins to make sure.
{6} Do not post pictures larger than the width of one page (including the space for your user information - avatar, username, personal text, etc.). It's really aggravating to keep having to scroll back and forth to read text because there are huge pictures in the board.
Each member has a warning level, and it's a little bar with a red inside. If it's not showing, you have no warnings. If it is showing, you have gotten a warning. If you do something bad or break the rules, you will get a warning. The amount of red in your warning bar shows how any warnings you've had. I will usually leave comments. The amount of 'warning' I give you depends on how bad you broke the rules. When your warning bar is full, you will be banned from JHS. Warnings will go away a month after you get them. However, if you repeat the thing that you did wrong, it'll go up higher.
If you see something in a post that's against the rules, there's a button at the bottom right corner of every post saying 'Report to Admin.' Click that and it'll allow you to send a PM to me, 'admin'. Again, please notify me if you see something in appropriate or against the rules.
